I do data recovery on the side. I really appreciate TestDisk and PhotoRec for being free and quality software. Also, I have created a live CD, BootMed, to help others learn to recover data. BootMed contains both TestDisk as well as PhotoRec and tutorials on how to use them to recover deleted files, etc.
