I've been fixing Macs (both hardware and software) since 1985 (company: first CJS Systems, then CJS Macintosh Repair), including a lot of data recovery, using most of the commercial Mac utilities available through 2008. Your software looks very interesting--I'm about to try it on a USB drive (Intel Mac-formatted) which won't mount, whose partition map appears to be damaged.
